In some cases, Stripe may temporarily restrict an account if additional verification or compliance information is needed.
This is most common when:
- Required verification documents have not been submitted
- Business information is incomplete or does not match records
- Stripe needs more details about the products being sold
- A business falls into a category Stripe considers higher-risk or requires additional review
For example, pharmacies, wellness shops, smoke shops, supplement stores, and similar businesses may sometimes be flagged automatically by Stripe’s review systems. If your business only sells over-the-counter products or non-prescription items, Stripe may require clarification and supporting documentation before fully enabling your account.
If your Stripe account is restricted, you will usually see a red notification banner directly within your Stripe Dashboard explaining what information is needed.
In many cases, Stripe may request:
- Government-issued identification
- Business formation documents
- Proof of business address
- Bank account verification
- Website or product information
- Additional explanation about your business model or inventory
If Stripe requests additional information or documentation, merchants must work directly with Stripe Support to complete the review process. Unfortunately, the Trellus team cannot submit documents, approve reviews, or remove restrictions on Stripe’s behalf.
